RECYCLED ART

My sister always says I can make something out of nothing -- maybe it's nothing no one else can see but when
I see those big cardboard tubes that rugs and carpets are packaged with, I see a "tree" of some kind. My
daughters as babies had one painted the exact color of the pink carpeting in their first bedroom, with cup hooks
attached for hanging up stuffed animals and dolls. This is my first attempt at a palm tree -- the green fronds are
made of construction paper, old wire hangers, and a green net bag that originally held oranges from a high
school fund raiser. I call it my "Key Palm" since I hang my keys on it, along with the dog leash and my base
ball cap. The cup hooks I no longer purchase since I have discovered the versatality of galvanized wire.

This is something literally
made out of "left-overs"
from other projects. The fake greenery was in a
bag of stuff I have carried
around for years, the lamp
base is one of those old
style motel lamps I turned
upside down with the lamp
shade from the lamp I
used with my tiffany-style
shell lamp and the cord
cover is an old white cur-
tain rod I straightened.
It also gives me a place to hang a lovely brass wind
chime I found in a place I rented 10 years ago. I love the blue
green patina on it but it is too loud if I hang it in the breeze.

It is just amazing how these "Zine Beads" turn out!

Organizing classes for bead-making now -- $20 for a two-hour session. I will provide everything
you need (plus light refreshments). You will learn everything you need to know and have a unique
piece of jewelry to take home. I need minimum 3 or maximum 8 participants. If you don't have
a group, that is fine. I will organize classes for individuals as I have enough participants to do so.
